When Motivation Strikes

source

I'll be honest with you, as I always try to be, recently motivation for my blog has been lacking and I've been a bit AWOL. My last few posts have been OK but not great, nothing to be proud of if you know what I mean? Worst of all they've been full of excuses as to why I haven't been posting and why content here isn't great. When I started this blog that is exactly what I didn't want to happen. I promised myself that  I'd only publish posts that I've put 100% of my efforts into and that I'm proud of. Look what happened.

Suddenly on Saturday night something seemed to give me a great big slap across the face though because I got my mojo back; the ideas just kept coming, I found that once again I do want to sit and write and read and edit and work. I made a big effort with the process of my new blog design and now everything is coming together. Also yesterday, Laura mentioned me in her Favourite Bloggers post and although it was just a small paragraph, the fact she included me and her words alone have encouraged me to keep going and try harder. This post is a promise to all of you that from now on, I'll do better.

Don't be surprised if there's nothing new over the next week or so but I've set myself the target of blogging every single day in July. If that works out, I'll do the same in August. No pressure on me there then, eh? Look out for beauty, life and guest galore.

Until then, I just want to say thank you for sticking by me. I love you lots.

The Fault In Our Stars Movie

source

Now I'm not into shipping and fandoms (spell check would like me to replace this word with 'fandangos', there's a fun fact for you) and all that comes with that side of the internet but there was one craze last year that I loved - and am still loving. That craze is something that - as I lie in bed eating the remainder of my popcorn - I wish to tell you about. It is, of course, The Fault In Our Stars.

So I'm not great at being creative and smart and writing things when I'm tired at 11.32 pm so forgive me if this post isn't my best; but I just got home from the cinema and I'm desperate to give you my verdict on the long anticipated movie.

I bought the book last year and I read it and I enjoyed it. I'm proud to tell you I did not cry - unlike the entire audience at tonight's screening bar the three guys in the room, all of whom were clearly being dragged by the girlfriends' might I add. There were special moments in the book that were missed out of the film but it was none the less the best film I have ever watched and coming from me, a rare cinema go-er and hard to please viewer, that is a big compliment and you know it must be true.

The characters were well cast, the scenes flew together perfectly and the humour and emotion were amazing. I was truly, truly impressed and impacted by this movie. It made me laugh until my sides hurt and it brought tears to my eyes (but I didn't fully cry, got that?).

One of my least favourite things to do ever is watch a film or TV show twice but this is something I could watch over and over, it's totally cliché following the hype around it but this has become my favourite film to date.

My ticket was just £7.50 which for cinemas these days is reasonable, so if you haven't already I highly recommend getting yourself to watch this. I promise you wont be disappointed. Even if you don't like the film, you have some fantastic eye candy in the form of Ansel Elgort!

Have you seen TFIOS? Will you be going to see it? What are your thoughts?

Le Empties

It's 10pm and getting dark, I did my best to make this photo publishable. Please forgive me.

Pardon the French – haha – see what I did there? Yeah I thought it was cheesy too...
I’ve built up quite the collection of empties recently, some I desperately need to repurchase and others not so much. So I thought why not share with you, I warn you that all products are skincare related in some way, no makeup today!

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub
Oh. My. God. The Sugar Crush scent is so good! I know it isn’t everybody’s thing but I just love it. I also really enjoyed using this scrub because it leaves my skin so soft. I think I will be repurchasing for sure. Is there any other body scrubs that you would recommend?
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel
I have used this mosituriser for as long as I can remember, it is my ‘go to’ and I love it. It does a fantastic job and I can’t recommend it enough, shame about the price though. Definitely repurchasing – maybe I’ll go for the newer one this time though.
Botanics Rose Water Toning Spritz
A refreshing toner that lasts a good amount of time and smells great. I will be repurchasing this for sure. I love how it is a spray so you can easily spritz the whole face with an even amount of product and not go overboard. It’s also nice to use in the Summer if you’re just feeling a little hot.
No7 Soft & Gentle Cleanser
This is a really lovely cleanser and I have pretty much always used No7 cleansers. I’d recommend this to you if you have sensitive skin or are just looking for a gentle cleanser that removes makeup and cleans skin. There are so many on the market these days though, that I’d like to try something new – Liz Earl Hot Cloth Cleanser I am perhaps looking at you...
Dove GoFresh Cucumber & Green Tea 48h Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
This is an OK deodorant, I have the 250ml bottle and it lasted me a while but it's a pretty rubbish anti-perspirant. The fresh scent is always nice for a morning though. I won’t be repurchasing.
Olay Double Action Night  Cream
This cream was a bit of an unexpected love at first use. It claims to be nourishing and regenerating and I think it covers all the bases. I decided  I wanted to start using a night cream with the idea it may help my skin more than a daily moisturiser, I found this one in my Mum's cupboard, took it (we have a 'what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine' kind of relationship) and it's great. I'm beginning to really enjoy Olay skincare!
Cyclax Nature Pure Apricot Facial Scrub
Cyclax isn't a brand I'd heard of until I was searching the shelves of my nearest Chemist for pamper night supplies. I have a thing for products in tubs; cleanser, conditioner, face masks and of course, scrubs. I've used this scrub almost daily since I bought it and it is amazing. I love the scent, it lasts a long time and it's super cheap. A definite repurchase. I featured it in a previous post last year about getting perfect Summer skin.
Luxury Hand Wash
I'll admit I'm not sure of the brand name exactly and a soap is unusual to be included in a beauty post but I was given this for my birthday (still unsure as to if the sender was hinting I have dirty hands) two years ago and it has lasted daily use until now. It's a good enough soap, smells great and leaves my hands soft and even though it looks expensive it's actually a cheap pick up from a certain supermarket. I recommend it!

Is there anything you’ve used up recently? Would you repurchase? What do you think of the products I’ve mentioned?

Summer Stroll

Ok ok it's a cringe title but on Tuesday evening my family and I went for a lovely walk in a totally new place. We went to Bishops Court Glen on the outskirts of Kirk Michael, on the Isle of Man (where I live). None of us had ever been there before despite all wanting to and I'm glad we chose there for our walk because it was beautiful. I took some pictures that I wanted to share with you all and  I also filmed some stuff for a 'vlog' but I'm not yet sure how it turned out and it definitely needs editing so watch this space for how that goes. In the mean time, enjoy these photos in no particular order...

Oh and by the way, prepare yourself for a lot of green and do give me feedback on the quality. I don't know what to make of my camera yet!

Where is your favourite place to walk? Is there anywhere new you'd like to explore?

Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Good morning guys! It's currently 9 am, I am sat on my couch with my first cup of tea of the day getting used to my brand new laptop. I hope now I'm no longer relying on dodgy technology that my blogging schedule will be a whole lot more regular and I can finally get to you those promised posts.

source

In the mean time, until I have taken some fab photographs for these said posts I thought I'd make the smooth transition back into my blog with a post I've been meaning to do for a while, the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. The lovely Miarara from this blog (check it out, it's gorgeous) nominated me and I'm so honoured, so thank you lovely!
The rules of this award are that you must:

  • Thank and link the person who nominated you for the award (check!)
  • List the rules and display the award (check!)
  • Share seven facts about yourself (see below)
  • Nominate 15 other amazing bloggers, comment on their blogs to let them know and provide the link to your post (see below)
I feel like I've shared so much information with you all with all the tags I've done this year so thinking of even more facts is a hard request. Lets see...

> If I had one wish, it would be that I could communicate easily with animals.
> I have always, always wanted to visit Greece but I don't know why.
> You know I have horses? I bet you didn't know I'm also allergic to them *sob*.
> I am terrified of the unknown - for example when you can't see the bottom of the sea.
> I am agnostic, I'd like to believe there is something up there but I need proof *sigh*.
> I am very much the one who cannot make important decisions. Please don't ask me to!
> There are just two other people on the Isle of Man with the same first name and surname as me.

So there you go, seven totally random facts about me. Now for the fun part, the ten blogs I nominate are as follows. I only picked ten because I feel like fifteen is too big a number for it to be special, if you know what I mean?

I hope you enjoyed this post. Short and sweet. Who is your most inspirational blogger?
