The Autumn Edit

I think it's safe to say we are finally saying good bye to summer. The days are getting colder and the nights are getting darker so I thought it would be the perfect time to present to you my autumn edit. These are the products that I will be reaching for over the coming season.

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate. This cream eye shadow is the perfect autumn shade. It's a rustic cross between purple and brown with a subtle shimmer and it lasts all day. I think I'll definitely be getting some use from this in the run up to Christmas - or at least Halloween!

No 7 Define & Shimmer Eye Palette. To go with my colour tattoo, this gorgeous silky palette from No 7 contains four beautiful eye shadow shades that I think were just made for autumn/winter time.

MUA lipstick in shade 1. This vampy matte red lipstick screams September to me! Wouldn't you agree? It's the perfect red for my skin tone and face shape too. This is a strong favourite of mine.

Barry M Matte Nail Paint in Burgundy Crush on the nails

Barry M Matte Nail Paint in Burgundy Crush. Are you sensing a dark berry theme here? I love my purples, reds and browns at this time of year. So take a wine red colour, add a matte effect and bottle it up with Barry M and you've got my dream Autumn nail product.

What would be in your autumn edit?

Make Up Rumours Haul & First Impressions

Make Up Rumours is an upcoming brand which to be honest, until reading about it on a random blog I came across, I had never previously heard of. Initially, the site is a blog which aims to provide all the reviews, tutorials, tip and secrets of the latest beauty trends. Their pop-up shop just opened in July!

At the moment, MUR stock a little over 100 products from the Pink Cosmetics London Ltd range which retails from just £1!! My entire order (and as you'll see, I bought a lot) came to just around £8 including postage - a beauty bloggers dream!

So the range is - or claims to be - innovative, cruelty free (this one is important to me), affordable, designed and developed in the UK, on trend, seasonal and readily available all over. You can visit the blog here or shop here.

What did I buy then? Well after reading good reviews about the eye shadow palettes, I jumped right in and bought three; each one from a different range. With myself in mind my first choice was the After Dark palette in shade 1 (£1.00). This contains four neutral colours perfect for day or night, including a matte brown, a highlight and a couple of shimmers. I've already been getting a lot of use from this and I'm really enjoying it. Next on the agenda from the After Dark range are shades 2 and 4.

As you may or may not be aware, I am in the process of building up a professional make up kit and so with clients in mind, from the Dazzle range I picked up Shade 3 (£1.00) because I think the beautiful mustard and green tones will be perfect for my girls with hazel/brown eyes. All of the other shades from the Dazzle selection are on my wishlist!
Finally, with my younger cousins who are always desperate for a makeover in mind, from the Glitz range I got Shade 3 (£1.00). This palette contains five glittery shades from a white highlight to the sparkliest pinks and purples. This one could also be fun for a night out with friends. Who knows?

So far so good with all of the eye shadows. They are all quite pigmented and go on nicely. Each palette comes with one of those tiny sponge applicators - the useless ones that are only used in desperate times when there is no brush around. The packaging is cheap black and clear plastic. Although the size is perfect for travel or throwing in your handbag, I'm just not sure they're quite sturdy enough. Maybe I'll do a full review in a few months and let you know how I get on.

These last two purchases are by far my favourite products from Make Up Rumours. We have the black liquid eye liner (£1.50) and a lipstick in shade 17 (£1.00).

The eye liner comes in a slick black bottle similar to most high street liquid liners. The
product itself is amazing. The black is black, it goes on really well and lasts for SO long. I had a swatch of this on my hand and it last two days through numerous hand washes and a shower. I was uber impressed.  I of course have also worn this on my eyes and it was just as good - I just didn't leave it on so long. For the price I am really happy with this.

Finally, the lipstick is also gorgeous. It's very creamy and goes on easily. You only need one coat for a lovely lip and it's not at all drying. I can't comment on staying power as I haven't kept it on long enough to see it fade but this has definitely become one of my firm favourites. The shade is a beautiful red toned pink nude and I can't wait to get some good wear from it.

Overall a yay for Make Up Rumours. Have you tried any of their products? I'd recommend you pick up something, even if you don't like it, you really don't have to splurge at all!

Barry M Nail Polishes ~ Mini Hail & Review

When in town not too long ago I picked up two new Barry M nail polishes to add to my collection. With Autumn in mind I obviously had to choose this matte red in the shade Burgundy Crush (410) and because I can't resist some holographic fun I also got the colour Mediterranean from the Aquarium range.

The first one to make it on my nails was Mediterranean and I hate to say that my first impressions weren't good. I was expecting this beautiful formula and I got an almost opaque glitter which took a lot of controlled dabbing to build up a nice even two toned coat. The end result was nice enough and let me tell you it lasted the longest time without chipping, this one just will not budge once dry! Overall, although it's a very pretty colour and the packaging is cute, I don't think I'll be buying anything else from this range.

Next up we have Burgundy Crush from the Matte range. This is a beautiful red wine colour in the bottle - my favourite. I've not tried any matte formulas before so was interested in trying this and didn't know what to expect. I'm very happy to say that this little product pleases me very much. It dries to a deep maroon/burgundy colour and not only looks but even feels matte. It's hard to explain but basically this is my new best friend. It a feel good nail polish, it makes me feel very suave! Just be careful on application not to get streaks because otherwise you're stuck with 'em which is not a good look when the polish is dry. Eek!

To conclude I'm happy with my purchases and can't wait to add more Barry M to my collection - you just can't beat this brand. You can get your Barry M fix in Boots or Superdrug, both polishes are £3.99.

Recently I...

Over the last week or so I have been out and about with some friends and thought I'd share with you a few of the things that I've been getting up to. So recently I...

Did some serious shopping. I've been really bad and not only made about three trips to my nearest high street but made a fair few online orders too. Oops! In my defence I have had to pick up a lot of bits for going back to college though and I am now on a spending ban. You can expect a lot of mini hauls and reviews very soon. Yippee.

Picked blackberries. I don't know why but I really like blackberry season, I just love being out somewhere and being able to pick blackberries along the way. I hate it if you get a sour one though! Oh and please do excuse those chipped nails.

Went exploring. You all know how much I've been enjoying the freedom of being able to drive since passing my test in July and I have taken the summer to get to places I've not been before. The other day I went for a walk around Tholt-Y-Will. Unfortunately the glen itself was closed off but there are some beautiful places to visit nearby too.

Spent time at the beach. I'm not an avid beach goer, I hate how sand gets everywhere and when you step in seaweed. Ewww. However, I've been really loving September beach days; there is just something about the bright sky, choppy waves and wind in your hair that makes it special. My favourite part is getting a 'hot chocolate deluxe' from the kiosk - yep, that means it's served in a large cup with lotsa whipped cream, marshmallows and cocoa powder. Perfection.

Have you done anything nice recently?

A Love of Yankee Candles

If you've been reading my blog for a while you will already know how much of a sucker I am for scented candles. The passing of summer and beginning of autumn brings with it the time of cosy nights in, hot chocolates, blankets and burning candles. Bliss. There really is something magical about the colder months, wouldn't you agree?

Anyway, today I got a new Yankee candle votive (Grapefruit) and it smells ah-may-zing. I've been burning it in the cutest little pot ever which I was given for my birthday at the weekend. I couldn't not share it with you! I'm sorry about the darkness and dirty background, it's gone 10pm and this post wasn't planned.
